Dementia Day Club & Outreach Support in North Somerset
Meaningful days, familiar faces and flexible dementia support for families across North Somerset
Our Dementia Day Club offers a welcoming, dementia aware space for people living with mild to moderate dementia, memory difficulties or similar support needs.
Beginning with sessions based at Tamar Court in Worle, Weston-super-Mare, and looking to expand throughout North Somerset, our Day Club gives people the opportunity to enjoy good company, conversation, music, reminiscence, creativity, seasonal activities and time with others in a calm and friendly community setting.
For families and carers, it offers something just as important: reassurance, routine and a regular opportunity for respite, knowing their loved one is spending time with a team that understands dementia, dignity and the importance of making each day feel worthwhile.
A different kind of dementia day club
The AYC Dementia Day Club has been designed to feel like a club, not an institution.
Our aim is to create a place where people feel known, included and able to take part in a way that feels right for them. Some people may enjoy joining in with activities. Others may prefer music, conversation, watching, listening, helping with small tasks or simply being part of the group.
Every person is different, and that is exactly how we approach the service. We take time to understand the person behind the diagnosis, their interests, routines, strengths, anxieties, life story, communication style and what helps them feel comfortable. This allows us to shape the day around people, not just around a timetable.

Designed around people living with dementia
The current Day Club at Tamar Court is specifically designed for people living with dementia, memory difficulties or similar support needs.
We understand that dementia affects people differently. Some people may be confident and sociable. Others may need reassurance, routine, quieter encouragement or time to settle. Our role is to understand what works for each person and help them feel as comfortable and involved as possible.
Before attendance is confirmed, we will have a friendly conversation with the person, their family, carer or professional involved. This helps us understand what matters to the person, what support they may need, and whether the Day Club is likely to be the right fit.
Where appropriate, a trial session may be offered.
Reassurance and respite for families and carers
Caring for someone living with dementia can be rewarding, emotional and demanding. Families often want their loved one to have more opportunities for social connection, but they also need to feel confident that the environment is right.
The Day Club gives families and carers time to pause, work, rest, catch up on day-to-day life or simply have a few hours knowing their loved one is spending time in a structured, welcoming and dementia-aware setting.
We also know that trust matters. That is why we focus on clear communication, careful suitability checks, safe support arrangements and a calm, thoughtful approach from the beginning.
A unique outreach offer when attending the Day Club is not possible
One of the things that makes the Access Your Care model different is that support does not always have to stop when someone cannot attend the Day Club.
Where suitable and available, our outreach offer may provide short-term or one-off support at home, or in another agreed setting, when someone is unable to attend their usual session.
This may be helpful when plans change unexpectedly, when someone is having a more difficult or unsettled day, or when a carer would still benefit from a period of reassurance and respite.
Rather than simply cancelling the day, outreach support gives families another option. It can help maintain connection, routine and meaningful contact from a familiar dementia-aware team.
Outreach support is designed to complement the Day Club, not replace it. It remains subject to suitability, availability, location, timing, staffing and safe support arrangements.
