What is a PA?
The video on this page is a quick and fantastic way to fully understand what a PA is, their role in supporting an individual and the individual employer’s or PA’s responsibilities. It is presented by individuals working in the role or receiving support and draws on ‘real life’ experiences.
A Personal Assistant is someone who is usually employed directly by a person who needs support (or a family member) to live their life in a way they choose and works directly with the individual they are supporting.
PAs don’t necessarily need to have any previous experience or qualifications; what is important is having the right values because the individual employer will depend on their PA for support. A PA is likely to be involved in many aspects of their employer’s life and may be asked to provide care and/or support in the home, at leisure or at work.
The opportunity to directly focus on the needs of an individual and the diversity of the role and tasks is what often attracts many people to this type of work.
Below are some of the ways we as a company can support individual employers both at the beginning as an individual employer seeking to find/employ a personal assistant/s and on an ongoing basis to be a good employer and have a healthy working relationship with PAs which meets the individual receiving support intended outcomes and offers a safe and harmonious working environment for PAs.
